KTM has globally released the 2023 iteration of the 1290 Super Adventure S, a road-biased adventure wagon sold in foreign markets. The 2023 iteration will be available in global markets from January 2023. It is highly unlikely that KTM will launch the 1290 Super Adventure S in the Indian market. That’s because the manufacturer has been absent from the middleweight segment since the 790 Duke was discontinued. Having said that, KTM has revealed the 1290 Super Duke R and 890 Adventure R at India Bike Week 2022.
For 2023, KTM has introduced two new colors, Orange with Black and Orange with Gray. The styling of the 1290 Super Adventure S has not changed. It continues to feature split LED headlights, which do look similar to the 390 Adventure sold in the Indian market. However, the headlights are much larger. There are split seats, side twin-pipe exhausts, full fairing, alloy wheels and a tall windscreen.
The engine outputs 158 hp and 138 Nm. It’s a V-Twin LC8 engine.

The instrument cluster is a 7-inch TFT screen running a new navigation software. It’s called Turn-by-Turn+ and it works in conjunction with the KTMConnect app that riders can download. The TFT screen can be controlled via a handlebar mounted switchgear. There are different riding modes, advanced WP semi-active suspension, ABS settings and adaptive cruise control.
Mechanically, the 1290 Super Adventure S remains unchanged. As such, it continues with a V-Twin LC8 that produces 158 bhp of maximum power and 138 Nm of peak torque. Owners can get a two-way quick shifter and WP suspension as optional extras. Then there are other PowerParts from KTM for the 1290 Super Adventure S.
The seat height of the motorcycle can be either 849 mm or 869 mm, depending on the seat chosen by the rider. The switch is lit, and Mitas Terra Force-R tires are used exclusively on the 1290 Super Adventure S.
