KTM AG has released the 2023 version of the 890 Adventure middleweight motorcycle for the European market. The 2023 KTM 890 Adventure brings several mechanical and feature-related upgrades and brings even more functionality to the adventure tourer. The styling remains largely the same, but a few tweaks make the model even better than before in terms of features and overall improvements.

The headlight and screen design of the updated KTM 890 Adventure has been tweaked. The front and side fairings have also been redesigned and appear to blend in better with the overall design. Both of these changes also contribute to better wind protection for the motorcycle. The LED headlamp units are carried over from the current model. There’s also a new alloy shroud that protects the engine and fuel tank. Two forged aluminum brackets were added to increase the stiffness of the front end to handle larger GPS units.

Additionally, the 2023 890 Adventure has a lower stock height of 825mm. The height can be further lowered to 800 mm using the lowering kit attachment without compromising ground clearance. KTM says ground clearance remains high due to the positioning of the rear shock. However, the company has not disclosed any specific figures.
In terms of suspension, KTM has also improved in this area, and the 2023 890 Adventure now features 43mm WP Apex forks with rebound and compression adjustments that are easily accessible from the fork caps. The rear features a WP Apex monoshock that also has rebound and preload adjustability. Braking settings remain the same, as do the 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels wrapped in Pirelli Rally STR tires.

Power for the 2023 KTM 890 comes from the same 889 cc LC8c parallel-twin engine. It puts out 103 bhp and 100 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike features a new 5-inch TFT screen with bonded mineral glass to protect the device from scratches and glare. It comes with Bluetooth connectivity and also provides access to a number of safety aids. Speaking of which, the 2023 890 Adventure is electronically equipped and comes with traction control, cornering ABS, off-road ABS, and multiple driving modes – Street, Off-Road, Rain, and Rally. Off-Road ABS mode is an option for 2023 models and is only automatically turned on in Off-Road or Rally mode.
There is also a demo mode on the 2023 KTM 890 Adventure that allows users to familiarize themselves with the motorcycle for the first 1,500 kilometers or so. The adventure tourer competes with the Triumph Tiger 900, Ducati Multistrada V2, Kawasaki Versys 1000, BMW F 850 GS, Yamaha Tenere 700, and more. KTM India has no immediate plans to bring the 890 Adventure to India.
