Yamaha Motor India has recently updated its lineup of motorcycles for the Indian market. They launched the R15 V4, MT-15 V2 and FZ series. The motorcycle has been updated with new features and has a new color scheme. Most importantly, Yamaha has made motorcycles OBD 2 compliant so that they are ready for the upcoming BS6 Stage 2 norms that will apply from April 1 this year.
The MT-15 is one of the best looking motorcycles in the naked bike segment. It’s essentially a bare version of the R15 V4. Here are 5 things to know about the updated Yamaha MT-15.
2023 Yamaha MT-15: Exterior
In terms of appearance, the MT-15 hasn’t changed much. The motorcycle gets a new Metallic Black color scheme. The remaining four color schemes have been continued, namely racing blue, ice fluorescent vermilion and cyan storm. In addition to this, the motorcycle now comes standard with LED turn indicators.

2023 Yamaha MT-15: Engine and Transmission
The engines on the MT-15 remained the same. So it’s a 155 cc single cylinder liquid cooled and gets VVA. It produces 18.4 bhp at 10,000 rpm and a peak torque output of 14.1 Nm at 7,500 rpm. It continues with a six-speed gearbox with slipper and assist clutches. Having said that, motorcycles are now OBD2 compliant.
2023 Yamaha MT-15: Features
The Yamaha MT-15 is equipped with an LCD instrument cluster that can display various information such as fuel consumption indicator, VVS indicator, shift timing light, gear position indicator and tachometer. All LED lighting and Bluetooth connectivity are also provided.
2023 Yamaha MT-15: Safety Equipment
In terms of safety equipment, the MT-15 is equipped with a side-mounted engine cut-off switch, traction control system and dual-channel ABS.
