75 Royal Enfield bikes embark on 18-day ride up the world’s highest motorized mountain pass


As part of the 19th edition of the Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey, a convoy of 75 Royal Enfield bicycles has set off for Umrinla Pass, the world’s highest motorized pass at 19,024 feet. The 3,050km ride will take riders 18 days from Delhi to their destination, passing through some adventurous terrain in northern India.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey

During the flag opening ceremony, the horse-riding team was blessed by Ladakh-style Buddhist lamas. The riders are made up of people from all over the world, including the Netherlands, Singapore and the Indian cities of Madurai, Kasargod and Sriviliptur, among others. Cyclists will travel along the Jammu-Srinagar route and stop at the Dera Kargil War Memorial to pay their respects to the martyrs.

From there, the team will travel to Leh before cycling to Umm Rinla. After crossing the highest maneuverable mountain pass, the team will proceed to Manali before finishing the journey in Chandigarh. The group of riders will run an awareness campaign for responsible travel.
