Aptera Motors has released full details of its production-spec Delta solar electric vehicle, previewing the fourth and final phase of EV product development. The three-wheeled solar-powered electric car is said to be ready to go into production in the form of a Launch Edition by the end of this year. The solar-powered electric car is said to have a range of 643 kilometers on a single charge. Furthermore, thanks to the integrated solar panels on the EV, it is capable of driving a distance of 64 kilometers using pure solar energy.

The Aptera Delta EV features a three-motor configuration, with each motor powering one wheel, ensuring all-wheel-drive capability. In addition, it comes with a Tesla Charging Port (NACS). The EV has a unique teardrop shape, giving the Delta a drag coefficient of just 0.13. In addition, ultra-light and ultra-strong materials also enhance its overall performance and sturdiness. Aptera Motors claims that, because of its design, the Delta Launch Edition requires only a quarter of its total available energy to glide through the air compared to other electric and hybrid vehicles on the road today.

The electric car uses 700 watts of solar power technology. This allows the vehicle to operate without charging from the grid, as long as the vehicle is in a location with very high sun exposure and the average daily driving distance is 46 km. The manufacturer also claims that the vehicle only needs to be recharged about 3 times a year in locations with moderate sun exposure. The EV startup also says the vehicle can be charged using any standard electrical outlet. The Aptera EV is said to be capable of 0-100 km/h in under four seconds and a top speed of 162.5 km/h. The EV has a trunk capacity of 920 liters.

When it comes to electric vehicles, Aptera co-founder and co-CEO Chris Anthony said his vehicle delivery schedule depends on funding. “Our goal is to start production by the end of 2023. Once we have achieved our fundraising goal, we will be able to provide a more accurate delivery timeline,” he added.
