Ather Energy has launched a new upgrade program for Gen 1 450 scooter owners to upgrade to the latest generation of 450X electric scooters.New program will allow owners of vehicles over three years old to trade in their 450 Gen 1 for a new 450X Gen 3 for only ¥80,000 (ex-showroom).
Ather Energy announced the new program along with several other upgrades to the 450X Gen 3 at its latest Community Day.The company also introduced additional ¥The first 1,000 450 customers get a discount of 10,000 and they will be able to purchase the 2023 450X Gen 3 at an effective price ¥70,000. Meanwhile, customers who have owned a 450 electric scooter for less than three years can upgrade to the 450X Gen 3 ¥90,000, down to ¥80,000 (all prices are pre-showroom prices), early bird discount. Discount can only be used until March 2023. That’s almost half the value of a brand new Ather 450X Gen 3.The price of the electric scooter is ¥137,000 for the 450 Plus, rising to ¥1.6 lakh for 450X (ex-showroom Delhi).

Speaking at the release, Tarun Mehta, co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy, said: “The residual value received by the owner is approximately ¥That’s 75,000-90,000 for a first-generation 450, though three to four years after purchase. “
The company wants more owners to transition to the latest-generation 450X, which has better hardware and is easily compatible with the plethora of changes rolled out via OTA updates or accessories. Mehta also explained that not all accessories and new components are backward compatible, meaning they cannot be retrofitted on Gen 1 scooters.
Ather Energy made a series of announcements during its Community Day, which included new colors, AtherStack 5.0 with software and firmware changes, new and more ergonomic seats, a redesigned user interface, new merchandise and accessories. Ather has also introduced a Battery Protection Extended Warranty, bringing the total coverage to 5 years/60,000 km (3+2 coverage) ¥6,999. The brand has 89 experience centers in 70 cities and has installed more than 850 fast chargers across the country.
