Bengaluru-based manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, Ather Energy, has achieved a major production milestone. The electric vehicle maker has announced that it rolled out its 100,000th electric scooter today from its manufacturing facility in Hosur. Ather Energy has reached the milestone of 100,000 scooters in just over four years since its commercial debut. Ather Energy is one of India’s largest manufacturers of electric two-wheelers, with flagship products including models such as the 450X Gen 3.
It took the electric two-wheeler maker about 55 months, or a little over four years, to achieve the milestone. The Bengaluru-based EV maker launched its first electric scooter, the Ather 450, in 2018. The electric two-wheeler maker launched its latest model, the Ather 450X Gen 3 electric scooter, in the Indian market last year.
Ather Energy, backed by Hero MotoCorp, launched their second model in 2020, the Ather 450X. Two years later, the electric automaker decided to update the model with the latest generation, the 450X Gen 3.It starts at ¥139,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi).The company also launched the Ather 450 Plus Gen 3 scooter, priced at ¥117,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This pricing includes applicable FAME II and other allowances.
Ather Energy has a manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. It has the capacity to produce more than 100,000 units per year. Ather Energy is backed by Hero MotoCorp and the facility is also backed by the Tamil Nadu government under its electric vehicle policy.
Ather Energy also provides a high-speed electric vehicle charging facility called Ather Grid across the country. The company has installed more than 60 electric vehicle charging networks in Maharashtra. It currently has more than 350 charging stations in 38 cities and plans to install 5,000 fast chargers in the next three years.
