In March 2023, Ather Energy sales increased by 353% year-on-year, with sales of 11,754 units, compared to March 2022 sales of 2,591 units. The electric two-wheeler maker also reported sales for the fiscal year 2022-2023 at 82,146 units sold. However, the company did not disclose its sales volume for fiscal 2022. Don’t think Ather rolled out its 25,000th 450X electric scooter last March.
Ather Energy has been steadily climbing the sales charts, showing strong month-on-month growth, with sales up 17.39% compared to 10,013 units in February this year. That said, Ather’s sales performance has been lagging compared to other major players such as Ola Electric and TVS. Ola sold more than 27,000 units and more than 200,000 units in fiscal 2023, according to data released by the company in March. On the other hand, TVS iQube sold 15,364 units last month. Ather said its sales rose impressively despite a weak first six months of fiscal 2023.

Commenting on the strong sales, Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Commercial Officer, Ather Energy said, “FY23 has been extraordinary for the electric vehicle industry, with two-wheeled electric vehicles expected to lead the way. At Ather, we have witnessed significant growth in retail sales 82,146 vehicles. Although the first six months of the fiscal year were very weak as chip shortages severely limited our production. We ended the year strong with 11,754 deliveries in March, a 353% year-over-year increase, and we expect this momentum to continue in the Continuing in FY24. We also expanded our retail footprint 4x this year from 30 stores to now 116. To accelerate EV adoption, Ather added 911 public fast charging points in FY23, There are now 1,224 grids across the country, making it the largest fast charging network for two-wheelers in India. Last month, we also partnered with Southern Railways to set up charging stations at 10 MRTS and suburban stations in Chennai.”
Ather Energy also made several announcements about the company’s charging infrastructure in March. The company has partnered with Southern Railways to set up EV charging stations at 10 Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) and suburban stations in Chennai. The brand is also the main sponsor of the IPL 2023 Gujarat Titans team. Interestingly, rival Ampere sponsors the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the IPL. Finally, Ather opened eight new experience centers in March of this year.

Ather Energy currently retails 450 Plus and 450X electric scooters and has been rapidly expanding its presence nationwide. The company also has one of the wider charging networks, operating more than 1,000 charging stations.
