Audi’s fourth electric concept, the Activesphere, teased ahead of reveal this week

Audi will take the wraps off the German auto giant’s fourth concept electric car, the Activesphere, this week on January 26. The Activesphere will join three other concept EVs that Audi showed earlier – the Urbansphere, Grandsphere and Skysphere models. The four concept EVs are basically meant to showcase futuristic designs that the German automaker will adopt in the coming days idea. The latest concept EV is an electric crossover coupe that will also offer off-road capabilities.

The activesphere concept car is the fourth model in a series of concept cars that Audi will start rolling out in August 2021.

Audi teased its upcoming concept electric car one last time before its debut on Thursday. Two existing images of the Audi Activesphere concept suggest it will only have two doors, which may vary in future series models. A closer look at these pictures shows that the Activesphere is positioned somewhere between an SUV and a coupe. It could be more aggressive than the Q3 Sportback.

Audi defines this new EV concept as “maximum versatility for active lifestyles, both on and off the road”. Audi’s fourth concept electric car offers a wide range of activities, including water sports, skiing, golf or challenging mountain driving.

Audi hasn’t revealed anything about the Activesphere concept engine yet. According to Audi, this “concept” will be a step forward in terms of autonomous driving. The concept EV is likely to be built on a PPE platform with an 800-volt electrical system.

Audi earlier showed off three such concept electric vehicles. The Grandsphere is a large electric limousine with two front seats and one rear seat. The front row becomes a “first-class lounge” with a huge amount of space, offering users a clear view and access to all the EV’s digital functions.

The second model, called the Urbansphere, is a futuristic electric minivan based on the Volkswagen Group’s EV PPE platform, which also underpins the Audi Q6 E-Tron small crossover. It represents a whole new step for the company, which will compete with the likes of Lexus and Mercedes-Benz in the luxury van segment.

The third model is called Skysphere. is an electric two-door convertible with Level 4 autonomous driving technology. It transforms from grand tourer to luxury sports car in seconds at the push of a button.
