The Auto Expo 2023 kicks off next week and MG Motor India will be among the prominent automakers participating in the event. This will be the automaker’s second time at the auto expo, with the brand already confirmed it will showcase the MG4 electric hatchback at the biennial event. The MG4 EV will be one of the main attractions at the pavilion, alongside a host of new and existing model ranges.
The MG4 is already sold internationally and recently received a five-star safety rating in the latest round of Euro NCAP crash test results. It’s based on MG’s parent SAIC’s Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) and is about the same size as the ZS EV sold in India. The model has a length of 4,287 mm and a wheelbase of 2,705 mm. Styling cues are borrowed from the Cyberster roadster concept.

The new MG4 electric crossover measures 4,287mm in length, 1,836mm in width and 1,506mm in height.
The MG4 can be equipped with a 51 kWh or 64 kWh battery pack, which guarantees a range of 450 kilometers on a single charge. The latter can be charged (10-80%) in 35 minutes using a DC fast charger. The PMS electric motor sends power to the rear wheels with 201 hp (150 kW) and 250 Nm of peak torque. The 0-100 kmph acceleration time is 7.9 seconds and the top speed is 160 kmph.
The MG4 is equipped with V2L (Vehicle 2 Load) functionality, 7-inch digital console, wireless charger, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with iSmart UI, connected car technology and more. The five-seater is also equipped with MG Pilot with ADAS, leather upholstered seats, etc.
MG Motor India to showcase its NEV and connected car technologies at Auto Expo 2023
MG Motor India said it will showcase new “energy vehicles and sustainable driving solutions” at Auto Expo 2023. Apart from the MG4, the brand is also expected to showcase the MG5, MG6 and the facelifted Hector. The latter, which will be launched in India tomorrow, will come with fully updated styling, more features and the addition of ADAS. Rumors have it that the MG Air EV, which was announced in India last year, could not be shown at the show but will be unveiled at a later date.
It is unclear if there are plans to bring the MG4 EV to India anytime soon. The brand hopes to gauge market reaction at the expo to answer the call. When it arrives, the MG4 will rival the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6, but will likely be significantly cheaper.
