MG Motor from the UK has confirmed that it will showcase at least two electric vehicles from its global fleet at the 2023 Auto Expo starting next week. After teasing the MG4 electric crossover, the automaker also teased the MG5 electric SUV, which will join other vehicles at the biennial motor show at the Greater Noida Expo Market from January 13-18. on display. MG Motor is also expected to showcase their three-door Air EV also at the show.
The MG5 EV is a five-door, five-seat electric SUV, also known as a station wagon or station wagon in the global market. First launched in China in 2017, the MG5 EV received a facelift last March. Currently on sale in the European market. In terms of its dimensions, the MG5 is 4,600mm long, 1,818mm wide and 1,543mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,659mm and plenty of room inside. Generous boot space is evident, offering up to 1,367 liters of luggage space.
Globally, MG Motor supplies two battery packs for the MG5. The smaller 50.3 kWh lithium-ion unit claims a range of up to 320 kilometers on a single charge. A larger 61.1 kWh battery pack promises a range of up to 400 kilometers without recharging. MG Motor supplies 11 kW AC chargers for EVs. However, with a DC fast charger, the MG5 can charge from 5% to 80% in just 40 minutes.
The MG5 is offered in two broad trims – short range and long range – depending on the size of the battery. The short-range MG5 produces up to 177 PS of maximum power and 280 Nm of peak torque. Power output goes up to 156 PS for the long-range version, while torque figures remain the same. The MG5 can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds and reach a top speed of 185 km/h.
