Tata Motors has unveiled its Harrier EV, an electric iteration of the SUV, at the 2023 Auto Expo. The automaker has hinted that the SUV will go on sale in the Indian market sometime in 2024. The SUV will play a key role in the automaker’s electrification strategy. Tata Motors had considerable success with the Nexon EV, which led it to launch the Tigor EV and later the Tiago EV. Now, the automaker aims to expand its lineup of electric vehicles. To do so, the home-grown car brand, which already holds more than 85 percent of the electric passenger car market in India, is now focusing on two more electric SUVs.
Harrier is positioned under Tata Safari in Tata Motors’ product lineup. Following the automaker’s latest design philosophy, the electric iteration of the large SUV packs a strong road presence. However, it differs significantly from the internal combustion engine-powered variant of the Harrier. The front fascia adopts a substantially revised design. Being an EV, it sports a closed-panel look instead of the traditional grille seen on the ICE variant. The concept SUV unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo has sleek LED daytime running lights connected by a slim LED strip at the top of the front fascia. Cuts and creases create dimension.

Moving to the side profile, the concept EV has a chunky look with flared fenders and large sporty alloy wheels, while the rear profile features a wide LED strip joining sharp LED taillights. Chunky bumpers and skid plates give the electric SUV even more sportiness.
Stepping into the cabin, there’s a premium feel to the ample space and the features and technology on offer. The SUV is built on the Gen 2 EV architecture and is said to be equipped with V2L and V2V charging facilities. However, the auto brand hasn’t revealed much about the powertrain and its specifications.
