Bajaj Dominar 160 and Dominar 200 launched in Brazil, but with a twist

IFRAME SYNC

Bajaj Auto has launched the new Dominar 160 and Dominar 200 sport commuters in Brazil, joining its flagship Dominar 400 sport cruiser in the Latin American country. Before you get confused, the reason the Dominar 160 and 200 look so familiar is because these models are basically a rebadge of the Pulsar NS160 and NS200 sold in India.

It is common for manufacturers to rebadge models overseas compared to the domestic market. Considering that the Dominar 400 is already sold in Brazil and has been doing well, the company may well decide to expand the Dominar range with the rebadged Pulsar NS160 and Pulsar NS200. Other than the name, neither motorcycle has changed much. Upgrades include new 3D Dominar logos on the fuel tank and front fenders, new Grimeca-branded brake calipers and a 0.1 Nm increase in peak torque output.

Bajaj Auto is a large exporter in Latin America, making motorcycles that are very popular in several countries. The fact that the Pulsar range remains a popular choice for Latin American buyers just goes to show its global appeal to the masses. It has also helped Bajaj extend the new life cycle for these models which are reaching end of life in India. Both the Pulsar NS160 and NS200 will be absorbed by the recently launched N160 and N250 in the brand’s product line. The new generation of Pulsar series promises to be more agile, feature-rich and performance-friendly.

It will also help Bajaj launch a new generation of Pulsars in Latin America at a later date, helping the brand position the model as it sees fit. That said, it is interesting that the Dominar 250 currently sold in India is not sold in Brazil.
