Bajaj Pulsar N160 vs Pulsar NS160: What’s the Difference?

Bajaj started updating the Pulsar collection last year. It all started with the Pulsar F250 and N250. This year, the brand launched the Pulsar N160 in the Indian market and more recently, the Pulsar P150, the most affordable new generation Pulsar one can buy. The Pulsar N160 is currently positioned between the new generation of Pulsars series. However, Bajaj already has the 160 cc Pulsar in its lineup. It’s called the Pulsar NS160. People might confuse Pulsar NS160 with Pulsar N160, so here is a comparison between the two.

Bajaj Pulsar N160 vs Pulsar NS160: Looks

While appearance is subjective, the Pulsar N160 looks more modern than the Pulsar NS160. The Pulsar N160 has the same design as the Pulsar N250, but it has an underbelly exhaust. The Pulsar NS160 looks more like the Pulsar NS200. In fact, it looks identical except for the part where the engine is placed.

Bajaj Pulsar N160 vs Pulsar NS160: Features

In terms of features, the Pulsar N160 is better equipped than the Pulsar NS160. For starters, there’s an LED projector headlamp, a new semi-digital instrument cluster that displays distance and time, a side stand cutout and a USB charger.

Bajaj Pulsar N160 vs Pulsar NS160: Engine and Transmission

Engine-wise, the two motorcycles differ slightly. They are all single-cylinder units with air-oil cooling. However, the Pulsar N160 uses a twin-valve setup, producing 15.78 bhp at 8,750 rpm and a peak torque output of 14.65 Nm at 6,750 rpm.

The Pulsar NS160, on the other hand, uses a 4-valve setup and develops a power output of 16.96 bhp at 9,000 rpm and a peak torque output of 14.6 Nm at 7,250 rpm. While the torque output of the engine is the same, the Pulsar N160 produces torque output early in the rev range. The Pulsar NS 160 produces more power, but it does so in a higher rev range, whereas the power is better distributed across the rev range of the Pulsar N160 engine.

Pulsar N160 is priced at ¥Dual-channel ABS and 130,000 ¥123,000 for single-channel ABS. Pulsar NS160 cost ¥125,000. All prices are ex-showroom, Pune.
