BMW Motorrad launches M 1000 RR in India $4.9 million ex-showroom.The brand also launched a race version of the motorcycle $5.5 million ex-showroom. The manufacturer is currently accepting pre-orders for both motorcycles. The M 1000 RR is the track version of the S 1000 RR and the first production superbike to bear the “M” badge.

The new flagship motorcycle features a newly designed carbon fiber winglet at the front. These winglets increase downforce at the front wheel by 6.3kg – even when leaning. They provide 22.6 kg of downforce at 300 km/h.
Powering the motorcycle is a 999 cc four-cylinder water/oil cooled engine. It features four titanium valves per cylinder and BMW ShiftCam technology. The engine develops 209 bhp at 14,500 rpm and peak torque of 113 Nm at 11,000 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The top speed of the BMW M 1000 RR is 306 km/h, and the 0-100 km/h acceleration takes only about 3.1 seconds.
Suspension functions are performed by a 45mm upside-down fork at the front and a single shock absorber at the rear. Both are adjustable for compression and rebound. The swingarm is made of aluminum and BMW Motorrad uses 17-inch carbon wheels. The front tire size is 120/70 and the rear tire size is 200/55. Braking duties are performed by twin 320 mm discs at the front and a single 220 mm disc at the rear. Various ABS modes and riding modes are available.

Some of the features on offer include launch control, wheelie control, slip control, dynamic brake control, professional shift assist, 6.5-inch TFT screen, LED lighting, heated grips, cruise control and traction control.
The M Racing kit adds an M GPS lap trigger, M Aero wheel covers, anodized rear swingarm (220g lighter and maintenance-free) and a DLC-coated M Endurance chain. In addition to this there is a new carbon fiber package with high quality visible carbon and clear coat components, there is also an M Billet package with 150g lightweight M footpegs, and a carbon fiber passenger seat cover or passenger suite.
