BYD or Build Your Dreams sells only two EVs in the Indian market, the e6 MPV and the Atto 3 crossover. However, in the global market, the brand has a lot of electric vehicles on sale, and now it has added another one. It’s called the Dolphin, and it’s an electric hatchback. Here are five things to know about the BYD Dolphin.

BYD Dolphin: Models and Dimensions
BYD has announced that it will offer four models of the Dolphin. There will be Active, Boost, Comfort and Design. It will be sold in left-hand and right-hand drive configurations. The Dolphin has a length of 4,290 mm, a width of 1,770 mm with the mirrors extended and a height of 1,570 mm. It has a wheelbase of 2,700mm. The seats can be split 60:40, and boot volume expands to 345 liters to 1,310 liters when both seats are folded flat.
BYD Dolphin: battery and range
The Dolphin will be equipped with two battery packs, a 60.4 kWh pack with a WLTP rated range of 427 km and a 44.9 kWh pack with a WLTP rated range of 340 km on the Active model and a WLTP rated range on the Boost model is 310 km. . A smaller battery pack will follow later. BYD is using its lithium iron phosphate blade battery for the Dolphin.
BYD Dolphin: charging time
The battery can be charged using an 11 kW AC three-phase charger. Owners can also use a 100 kW DC charger, which can charge from 30% to 80% in just 29 minutes. Additionally, the electric hatchback also comes with VtoL or vehicle loading capability. This feature means that the Dolphin can power appliances, as well as charge external devices.

BYD Dolphin: Performance
The 60 kWh version of the Dolphin accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 7 seconds. It is powered by an electric motor capable of producing 201 hp and 290 Nm. Top speed is 160 km/h and there are four riding modes – Sport, Normal, Economy and Snow.

In terms of configuration, BYD Dolphin will be equipped with panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, electric adjustment of front seats, adaptive headlights, electronic stability control, traction control, slope descent control, automatic parking and other configurations.

ADAS features such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, rear collision warning, rear cross traffic alert and rear cross traffic braking, lane departure prevention and emergency lane keeping assist are also available.
