REE Automotive, a manufacturer of rolling chassis for commercial electric vehicles, plans to build a highly automated assembly plant in the UK to supply customers in Europe. The Israel-based startup said the manufacturing facility will be completed this year in partnership with Rockwell Automation (NYSE: ROK ) and Expert Technologies, which will provide robotics and automated assembly.
Rockwell Automation to power new UK electric vehicle factory
REE will leverage technology from Plex, a Rockwell Automation company, to provide cloud-based manufacturing for its highly digitized EV platform.This Plex Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Platform It will be launched at REE Automotive’s integration center in Coventry, which will have an initial production capacity of 10,000 vehicles this year. The North American integration center in Austin, Texas, is expected to double global production capacity to 20,000 vehicles in 2023 by replicating the highly automated cloud-based architecture of its European sibling.
