Harley-Davidson is ready to launch its most affordable motorcycle in the Indian market. It will be called the X440 and will be announced on July 3rd. The new motorcycle was jointly developed with Hero MotoCorp and was also recently spotted in Himachal Pradesh. Now, the manufacturer has released the official image of the X440.
From the images, the X440 is designed to look like a small Harley-Davidson. It has neo-retro elements, with a teardrop fuel tank and some muscular parts. The manufacturer is using full LED lighting, so there’s a round headlight at the front, round turn indicators and a slim taillight at the rear.
In terms of functionality, there will be a circular digital instrument cluster, likely with some kind of Bluetooth connectivity. The manufacturer pays special attention to detail, as the switchgear looks premium and the headlights have Harley-Davidson lettering inside.
In terms of hardware, there is a USD front fork in the front and a double shock absorber in the rear. The manufacturer is using 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in MRF Zapper Hyke tyres. Braking duties are performed by front and rear discs. Dual-channel ABS will also be offered.
The riding position seems to be very comfortable thanks to the wide handlebars and mid-position pedals. The front of the unibody unit is narrow and very curved. The rear seat has a split armrest.

Because motorcycles are built at cost, the engine is an air-cooled unit with an oil cooler. No remote control or any other fancy electronics. As the name suggests, cubic capacity is expected to be around 440 cc. The engine is expected to develop over 20 bhp and 27 Nm of torque. Previous photos show the redline set at around 8,000 rpm, so expect the engine to be a likely long-stroke unit tuned for low-end torque delivery.
