Dimension Data Partners with Cisco, Deloitte, EMC and Intel to Bring the Best of Digital Technology Together to Present the Most Advanced Digital Experience in Modern Sports

July 4, 2016 – Dimension Data, a global IT solutions and services provider, today launched its first custom-designed Digital Experience Center. Equipped with the latest digital technology, the Mobile Experience Center will tour France from July 2nd to 21st during the Tour de France. Using the example of cycling, Dimension Data will tell the story of how the company is helping to digitize professional cycling.

Dimension Data is the official technology partner of the Amaury Sport Organization (ASO), organizer of the Tour de France. Last week, Dimension Data and ASO announced major improvements to a big data cycling analytics platform that provides real-time information to audiences, commentators, teams and millions of cycling fans around the world.

In line with the theme of cycling, one of the highlights of the experience center is the induction bicycle. Guests will be able to participate in virtual reality bike races using sensor-enabled bikes. Rider information will be captured in real time through a mobile application developed by Dimension Data and pushed to the Dimension Data cloud. Heart rate, speed, cadence and power will be analyzed before being displayed in the live race dashboard.

Also on display is NTT Group’s wearable technology in the form of a “smart” shirt with a real-time hitoe® monitor that, when worn, captures the biosignals of an individual’s heart and muscles and generates real-time ECG readings.

Every day, Dimension Data guests will participate in telepresence video conferences with technical and data analytics teams working in mobile data centers in remote locations. ”

To demonstrate how collaboration between people and teams can be enhanced, Cisco created a Cisco Spark room in the Experience Center for guests and teams that is linked to a dedicated social network.

Over the next three weeks, more than 200 guests are expected to visit the experience center.
