The Mercedes EQB will be the fourth EV model to be launched in India after the EQC, EQS and EQS AMG.

The Mercedes EQB will be the first seven-seat electric vehicle in India’s luxury EV segment. It will join the EQC and EQS in the German automaker’s Indian EV lineup. It is also expected to be Mercedes’ most affordable EV in India thanks to local assembly at the Chakan plant near Pune.

Mercedes already offers the EQB in global markets. It comes in two wide variants – EQB 300 and EQB 350. The EQB 300 draws power from a dual-motor 228 hp powertrain, while taller variants get a 292 hp dual-motor setup. The EQB is equipped with the Germans’ four-wheel-drive system. It claims to go from zero to 100 km/h in about 6 seconds.

Mercedes claims the EQB can return more than 400km of range on a single charge under WLTP. It comes with a 66kWh lithium-ion battery pack located under the rear seats. The battery pack can be charged with up to 11 kW of the AC system and up to 100 kW in a DC fast charging setup. Mercedes claims it can charge up to 80% in just 32 minutes using the fast charging option.

The price of EQB may be lower than that of EQC, the cost of EQC ¥9.95 million (ex-showroom). When launched, the EQB will take on rivals such as the upcoming Audi Q8 e-tron.
