Electric vehicle company GreenCell Mobility has announced the appointment of Devndra Chawla as its new CEO. He will report to the GreenCell Board of Directors. Chawla has over 26 years of experience in the corporate world, having previously served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Spencer’s Retail and Nature’s Basket. He has also worked at Walmart India, Future Consumer Limited, Coca-Cola and Asian Paints. Chawla is now moving to GreenCell as the company looks to aggressively expand its mobile business.
Commenting on the appointment of Devdnra Chawla, Everstone Group Vice Chairman and Eversource Capital CEO, Dhanpal Jhaveri said, “We are delighted to welcome Devndra to the GreenCell team, who has successfully led many customer-centric businesses, growing GreenCell into India’s leading Green Ground Transportation Corporation.”

As a business model, GreenCell is committed to building electric vehicles as a service (eMaaS). Backed by Eversource, the company is supplying over 1,500 vehicles to the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, New Delhi and Madhya Pradesh electric bus. The company already operates more than 700 electric buses in 23 cities in these states. GreenCell operates its electric buses under the NeuGo brand.
