Hero MotoCorp announced on Tuesday that it will open reservations for the Harley-Davidson X440 in India from 4:40 pm on July 4th. The motorcycle can be pre-ordered online or at all Harley-Davidson dealerships nationwide, as well as select Hero MotoCorp dealerships.Bikes can be reserved for a nominal fee $5,000.
Variables, Prices and Delivery
The motorcycle is available in three models: Denim, Vivid and S.The entry price for these models is $229,000, $249,000 and $269,000 respectively. Deliveries are expected to begin in October.
Design highlights
The X440 is designed specifically for the Indian market and borrows some styling details from older models in the company’s lineup. It adopts the iconic retro design language with round headlights and a teardrop fuel tank, but LED lighting and an LCD instrument panel provide a modern touch.
Engine and Transmission Highlights
The bike is powered by a newly developed 398 cc single-cylinder air- and oil-cooled engine producing 27 hp and 38 Nm of peak torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox. Suspension features include upside-down forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear, while stopping power comes from disc brakes with dual-channel ABS as standard.
Harley-Davidson partners with Hero MotoCorp
This premium motorcycle, which is also the most affordable Harley, was recently launched at a ceremony held at the state-of-the-art Center for Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur. The Harley-Davidson X440 will be produced at Hero MotoCorp’s garden plant in Neemrana, Rajasthan.
The Harley motorcycle is the brand’s first premium motorcycle to be co-developed with Hero MotoCorp. This marks the two brands’ first foray into the 440cc segment in India. After Harley withdrew from India, Hero and Harley established a strategic partnership in India in 2020. Under the partnership, Hero will manufacture Harley-Davidson bikes in India and act as its exclusive distributor in the country.
