Harley-Davidson recently launched the X440 in the Indian market. It was co-developed with Hero MotoCorp and is currently the most affordable motorcycle in the Harley-Davidson lineup. The X440’s biggest rival is the Royal Enfield Classic 350, which has dominated the segment since it was first introduced to the Indian market. Here is a comparison between the two motorcycles.

The Harley-Davidson X440 was designed as a modern retro sports car. So while retaining the nostalgic design of past Harley-Davidson models, the bike is equipped with LED lighting. The Classic 350, on the other hand, looks like a true retro motorcycle. At first glance, one can’t even tell if this is the new-generation Classic 350 or the old one.
Harley-Davidson X440 vs. Royal Enfield Classic 350: Engines
Harley-Davidson uses a 440 cc air-oil cooled engine that produces 27 hp and 38 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. On the other hand, the Classic 350 also uses an air-oil-cooled single-cylinder engine, but with a displacement of 349cc. It puts out 19 bhp and 27 Nm. The gearbox in operation is a 5-speed unit.

Harley-Davidson X440 vs. Royal Enfield Classic 350: The Hardware
The X440 has USD forks up front and dual gas-charged shocks in the rear. The Classic 350, on the other hand, has conventional telescopic forks at the front and twin gas-filled shock absorbers at the rear.
The Harley’s braking duties are handled by 320mm discs, while the rear is handled by 240mm discs. On the Enfield there is a 300mm disc up front and a 270mm disc or 153mm drum in the rear. Harley comes standard with dual-channel ABS, while the Classic 350 comes with dual-channel ABS on the twin-disc version and single-channel ABS on the single-disc version.

In terms of features, the X440 comes with full LED lighting, USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity and a digital instrument cluster. The Classic 350 comes with USB ports, an analog speedometer with small readout and an optional Tripper navigation system.

The Classic 350 starts at $193,000, rising to $225,000.On the other hand, the Harley-Davidson X440 starts at $229,000, rising to $269 thousand. All prices are ex-showroom prices.
