As part of its new product development strategy, Hero Electric claims to focus on delivering more advanced and high-tech battery packs in its upcoming electric two-wheelers. Talking about the new battery pack, Hero Electric claims it has a new advanced battery chemistry design. The automaker said it plans to source around 300,000 battery packs and chargers from its partner companies over the next 12 months.

These new electric two-wheeler batteries claim to be compliant with the latest AIS 156 amendment covering IP67 thermal protection benchmarks, A/V warning systems, smart BMS and IoT real-time data tracking. The battery is also said to be equipped with smart technology that enables two-way communication between the vehicle, controller, battery and charger.

Talking about the new battery packs and partnerships, Hero Electric CEO Sohinder Gill said that it takes a long time to perfect battery technology because its life expectancy and abnormal behavior over the life of the battery cannot be fully predicted using accelerated simulations. “Our local battery development work started as early as five years ago to meet the FAME 2 schedule, however, due to low production volumes and high investment, there was little interest from leading battery manufacturers. We continued to use different chemistries Conduct R&D experiments to get the right solution for India’s weather conditions and roads,” he added.
