Honda teases exhaust note for new scooter, possibly Dio 125

Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India has recently released a new teaser of what looks like a scooter. As of now, the manufacturer has not released any official information. But judging by the teaser, it appears to be a sport scooter with striking visual graphics. It looks similar to Dio’s design elements, so it could be a Dio 125.

The teaser says “boost your style quotient,” and the exhaust note sure sounds sporty. The car is expected to go on sale this month. Styling-wise, no major changes are expected from Honda. There will be different color schemes and 125 cc badges to identify the Dio 125 and Dio 110.

The engine powering the Dio 125 will be the same engine currently used on the Activa 125 and Grazia 125. It is a 123.9 cc air-cooled engine that produces a maximum power output of 8.18 bhp and a peak torque output of 10.3 Nm. It’s paired to a CVT automatic transmission that drives the rear wheels. The engine also features ACG Quiet Start and Automatic Engine Start/Stop.

Honda also introduced the new H-Smart system with smart key. Additionally, the scooter will feature LED lighting, side stand cutouts, a pass switch, and more.

In addition to the new scooter, Honda is also developing a new 350 cc motorcycle. The motorcycle will be built on the same platform as the H’ness CB350 and CB350RS currently sold in the Indian market. As of now, it is unclear what the new 350 cc motorcycle will be. It could be a cruiser like the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. If so, then this new motorcycle will also compete with the Yezdi Roadster.

Since the new motorcycle will be based on the same platform as the H’ness and CB350RS, the engine will be shared. It will be a 350 cc single cylinder engine producing 21 bhp at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque output of 30 Nm at 3,000 rpm. It is equipped with a 5-speed gearbox with relatively tall gearing. It is possible that Honda will re-tune the engine on the new motorcycle.
