The Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric SUV has entered the Indian Book of Records as the fastest electric vehicle covering all of the country’s seven wonders. This electric SUV has taken the title of “Fastest Electric Car” covering all the wonders of India. The Ioniq 5 is the second electric vehicle launched by the South Korean automaker in India.Launched earlier this year during the 2023 Auto Expo, the electric SUV is priced at ¥4.495 million (ex-showroom). A single charge can provide a range of about 631 kilometers.
Hyundai broke the record for the Ioniq 5 electric SUV last November. It started on November 18 from the automaker’s corporate headquarters in Gurgaon, Haryana. Ioniq 5 explores the wonders of India including statues of the Golden Temple, Taj Mahal, Khajuraho Temples, Nalanda, Konark Sun Temple, Hampi and Gomteshwara.
The Ioniq 5 electric SUV is based on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which also underpins the Kia EV6. It measures 4,635mm long, 1,890mm wide and 1,625mm high. The wheelbase is 3,000mm.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 gets its energy from its 72.6 kWh battery pack. According to ARAI certification, the high-capacity battery can help electric vehicles travel more than 630 kilometers on a single charge. A single PMS electric motor is capable of producing 214 bhp of maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque. Hyundai claims it can charge an EV from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes using a 350 kW DC charger.
Hyundai has kept the style of the Ioniq 5 with a mix of modern and vintage elements. There’s a parametric Pixel LED headlight and flip-up bonnet up front, with auto-flush door handles and active aero alloys on the sides, and parametric Pixel LED taillights at the rear. The interior features a 12.3-inch digital cluster and touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated seats, and more. EV also offers V2L or vehicle-to-load technology, allowing it to double as a charger for other EVs or electronics and appliances.
