Hyundai started deliveries of the Ioniq 5 to Indian customers starting this month. Launched in January this year, the EV is the South Korean auto giant’s second electric vehicle. Deliveries of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 have begun for almost three months since its launch during the 2023 Auto Expo. The electric car is a tech cousin to Kia’s EV6 electric crossover, priced at ¥4.495 million (ex-showroom).

The automaker is sending the first batch of Ioniq 5 EV to customers across India. Unlike the Kia EV6, the Ioniq 5 is assembled locally in India. However, Hyundai has said that only 500 units of the Ioniq 5 will be sold in India this year.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is similar in size to the Kia EV6. The EV measures 4,635mm long, 1,890mm wide and 1,625mm high. The wheelbase is 3,000mm. Design-wise, however, it stands in stark contrast to its Korean counterpart, with a rather simple look. It features parametric pixel LED headlamps and flip-up bonnet, automatic flush door handles, parametric pixel LED tail lights and active aero alloys.
The Ioniq 5’s interior is also simple, yet feature-rich. The seat is made of eco-processed leather. The dashboard is dominated by a large 12.3-inch dual-screen projection instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Hyundai also offers BlueLink connected car technology, a Bose sound system, ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, and more for the EV. It also comes with V2L or Vehicle to Load technology, allowing it to double as a charger.
The Ioniq 5 is equipped with a 72.6 kWh battery pack. The EV has a range of 631 kilometers and is ARAI certified. The Ioniq 5 is powered by a single PMS electric motor producing 214 bhp of power and 350 Nm of peak torque. Hyundai claims it can charge an EV from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes using a 350 kW DC charger. The Ioniq 5 also comes with a host of safety features including Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, ABS with EBD, engine parking brake, all four disc brakes and more.
