Jehan Daruvala joins Mahindra Racing as reserve driver in Formula E

Mahindra Racing has announced that it has signed Indian racing driver Jehan Daruvala as the team’s replacement driver for Season 9. The championship will see the former Formula 2 driver drive a single-seater electric car, the second Indian driver to do so. Join the racing series. Speaking about joining Mahindra Racing, Jehan Daruvala said, “Being part of the Indian racing team is a dream come true. Formula E is very competitive and I am very excited about this new chapter in my career. The 9 season is very exciting and I look forward to learning and contributing, especially in terms of car development and supporting the team. As part of his stint at Mahindra Racing, Jehan will be based at the team’s headquarters in Branbury, UK for a period of time and will work alongside engineers on the simulator. He will provide car development and racing support to drivers Lucas Di Grassi and Oliver Rowland. Jehan came to Formula E after quite a success in Formula 2. The 24-year-old has four F2 wins and multiple podium finishes in three seasons in the F1 support series. He has also completed three F1 tests with McLaren this year. The Mumbai rider is also part of the Red Bull Juniors programme. Before F2, Jehan also competed in Formula 3 in 2019 and went on to claim two victories while finishing third in the championship standings. The driver has also competed outside of Formula 2 and finished third in the 2021 F3 Asian Championship with Indian racing team Bombay Falcons.

Jehan Daruvala joins Mahindra Racing at a pivotal time for the championship to move to Gen3 racing and three new venues including India. With a brand-new driver lineup and chairman in place, the team looks forward to achieving better results in the upcoming season championship.
