Kia unveiled the EV9 all-electric SUV earlier this year after showing a concept version of the vehicle at the 2023 Auto Expo. Since then, Kia’s flagship electric SUV has garnered attention for its striking design, technology and features. Now, the South Korean automaker has confirmed that a performance-oriented EV9 GT is also planned.
Kia says the EV9 GT is just around the corner. The automaker also hinted that the performance-oriented Kia EV9 model is expected to feature significant performance upgrades compared to the standard model. As the brand says, the EV9 GT is just around the corner, continuing the brand’s sporty image following the EV6 GT. The confirmation is in line with statements made by Kia President and CEO Ho Sung Son. He said the Kia EV9 GT will be launched in early 2025.

The Kia EV9 GT is said to feature dual electric motors, powering each axle and sending power to all four wheels. However, the Hyundai automaker has yet to reveal further details about its upcoming high-performance electric SUV.
While Kia hasn’t revealed any specs for the Ev9 GT, we can use the EV6 GT as a guide for possible upgrades to the upcoming SUV. The AWD variant of the standard EV6 makes 320 hp and 604 Nm of torque, while the EV6 GT makes 576 hp and a whopping 738 Nm of torque.
The standard version of the Kia EV9 features a 215-horsepower generator electric motor that powers the rear wheels with the help of a 76.1-kilowatt-hour battery pack. A 99.8 kWh battery pack is also available, available in a single 201 hp motor-driven model and an AWD version producing 379 hp and 700 Nm of torque.
