Revealed in concept form at the recently concluded 2023 Auto Expo, the Kia EV9 is one of the most anticipated electric vehicles (EVs) anywhere in the world. While its production form may be some way off Indian shores, it is gearing up for a US launch and some key specs have also reportedly been leaked.
Electrek reports that a number of Kia owners received a survey listing five trims of the production Kia EV9, asking owners which of them they would prefer if they ended up buying the electric SUV.Depending on the trim listed, the base is priced at $56,000 or approximately ¥4.6 million. It has a power of 200 horsepower, a torque of 338 Nm, and a range of about 350 kilometers.Top-of-the-line Kia EV6 costs around $73,000 ¥6 million, the cruising range is about 386 kilometers, the power is 400 horsepower, and the torque is 652 Nm. It will also sit on 21-inch alloy wheels, while lower trims will move on 19- or 20-inch wheels, depending on the trim.
The top trim of the Kia EV9 will also be noticeably quicker, with a 0 to 100 km/h time of just 5.2 seconds. The 0 to 100 km/h time on other trims is between 6 and 8.9 seconds.
Now, Kia hasn’t officially announced or confirmed all of these figures, but if true, it would make the EV9 a tasty product. It will compete with the likes of the similarly priced but less powerful Mercedes EQB. The official launch of the Kia EV9 for the US market is scheduled for later in 2022.
