KTM India has had quite a bit of success with their adventure touring bikes. So far they only have 250 Adventure and 390 Adventure. Neither of them are proper adventure travellers, since they are Duke-based counterparts. But KTM does make some changes to the motorcycles so they are adventure-ready, and the brand is also working on new Adventure models that will be proper ADVs.
The 390 Adventure is the flagship adventure wagon that the brand has launched in the past in the Indian market. However, considering the growing ADV segment in India, KTM has decided to offer a low-spec version of the 390 Adventure so that they can compete better in this segment. Called the 390 Adventure X, the motorcycle is below the standard 390 Adventure. Here are five things to know about the KTM 390 Adventure X.
2023 KTM 390 Adventure X: The exterior
As far as looks go, a person can’t tell whether he or she is looking at a 390 Adventure or a 390 Adventure X. It has the same LED headlights and taillights and body panels. The 390 Adventure X is available in two color schemes – Electric Orange and Deep Electric.
2023 KTM 390 Adventure X: Features
Compared to the 390 Adventure, the 390 Adventure X lacks features like Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC); riding modes (street and off-road), cornering ABS, Quickshifter+, etc. However, it continues to feature ride-by-wire dual-channel ABS with off-road mode, a 12V accessory socket and LED lighting. To make the 390 Adventure X more affordable, KTM replaced the TFT screen with an LCD unit.
The engine and hardware equipment have not changed.
2023 KTM 390 Adventure X: The Hardware
KTM India hasn’t made any changes in terms of hardware, the 390 Adventure X continues to feature a split trellis frame, suspended by 43mm WP Apex USD forks and rear monoshock. Braking duties are performed by 320 mm discs at the front and 230 mm at the rear.
2023 KTM 390 Adventure X: Engines
The engine is also unchanged. It’s the same liquid-cooled 373 cc single-cylinder engine. It puts out 42.9 bhp and 37 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission with slip assist clutch.

2023 KTM 390 Adventure X: Price
KTM 390 Adventure X cost ¥2.8 lakhs (entry price) ¥59,000 cheaper than the mature 390 Adventure ¥339 thousand. Both prices are ex-showroom prices.
