The Lamborghini Urus has propelled the Italian supercar maker to astronomical heights, and while purists may still rave about the ground-kissing superfast machines that have defined the company for years, their numbers are being overshadowed by the Urus SUV’s sheer size Overwhelmed by success. The company’s top boss has now confirmed that an all-electric Lamborghini Urus will also be launched by 2029. Sit down, purists!
Lamborghini’s first-ever SUV, the Urus, was unveiled globally in 2017 before being officially launched in 2019. It was brought to Indian shores within a month of its global launch, and the model quickly became the best-selling Lamborghini in India, nowhere else. Around 80 percent of Urus buyers in India are also first-time Lamborghini owners, prompting the company to also launch the Urus Performante in November.
But the world’s march toward cleaner mobility solutions and supermachines like the Lamborghini Urus – as encouraging as it may be – may not appeal to new-age and conscious buyers. solution? The all-electric Urus. This was confirmed by Lamborghini CEO Steph Winkelmann, who reportedly said the Urus EV would make perfect sense.

Lamborghini is currently transitioning to cleaner technology and plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid. But the Urus EV won’t be its first all-electric offering. That title will be held by the 2+2 super grand tourer, expected sometime in 2028. This will be an entirely new model that won’t be based on anything the company currently has. (read more here)
Still, the Italians are determined to play video games and play the big game. “I have four pillars in my mind. Design and performance, those are things we’ve been doing. The other two? It’s perceived performance,” Winkelmann said before. (read more here)
The company announced just last year that it would invest at least 1.8 billion euros in building a range of hybrids while moving to an all-electric supercar.
