Hero MotoCorp’s electric sub-brand Vida has expanded its presence in the country by opening a new dealership in Chennai.This is the brand’s fourth market in India after Bengaluru, Jaipur and Delhi, with pre-orders now open in Chennai ¥499. Hero is retailing two models of the Vida V1 Electric Scooter – Plus and Pro. Prices in Chennai have yet to be announced.

The Vida V1 Pro electric scooter is the top model, with a larger 3.94 kWh battery pack and a range of 165 km (IDC) on a single charge. The company claims a true range of 95 kilometers. The V1 Pro is powered by a PMS electric motor with 6 kW (8 bhp) and 25 Nm of peak torque. 0-40 kmph comes in 3.2 seconds, while top speed is rated at 80 kmph.

At the same time, the Vida V1 Plus is equipped with a smaller 3.44 kWh battery pack, with a single-charge cruising range of 143 kilometers (IDC), and a real cruising range of 85 kilometers. The electric motor and top speed of the V1 Plus remain the same, while the e-scooter is slightly slower, with a 0-40km/h acceleration time of 3.4 seconds.

The Vida V1 takes just over five hours to charge from 0% to 80% and is equipped with a fast charging feature capable of charging at speeds of up to 1.2 km/min. Other features include four riding modes for both variants – Eco, Ride, Sport and User Defined. There’s also full LED lighting with projector headlights, a 7-inch TFT touchscreen digital console with OTA updates; Bluetooth, 4G and WiFi compatibility and a host of connectivity technologies including turn-by-turn navigation, geo-fencing, anti-theft alarm, vehicle diagnostics, Button SOS alarm etc.

The Vida V1 Plus is available in three colors – Matte White, Matte Sport Red and Gloss Black, while the V1 Pro is available in four colors – Matte White, Matte Sport Red, Gloss Black and an additional matte Abrax Orange.Currently, the price of Vida V1 Plus is ¥145,000, while the price of V1 Pro is ¥159k (all prices, ex-showroom Bangalore). Vida will expand into new markets throughout the year.
