Mahindra and Mahindra’s new Born Electric SUV debuted last year. Now, the concepts have made their Indian debut on the eve of Formula E in Hyderabad. This time, though, Mahindra showed off a new electric SUV called the BE Rall-E, which was not shown last year. The BE Rall-E is based on the BE.05 electric SUV that debuted last year.
In terms of changes, the BE Rall-E gets a bright yellow paint scheme with piano black exterior mirrors. The electric SUV has beefy front and rear bumpers and chunky wheel arches. The headlights adopt a split design, with LED daytime running lights above, and the main headlight unit is a round LED. To add to the off-road look, there are orange tow hooks at the front and rear.

There is a roof rack on which the spare wheel is mounted. Speaking of tires, there are all-terrain tires, and they’re wrapped around 16-inch steel rims, as they’re better off-road. Ground clearance seems adequate for off-road terrain. The overall side profile of the electric SUV is that of a coupe, with door handles flush with the body. At the rear, there’s a slender LED strip that blends in with the taillights.
Mahindra’s new electric SUV is based on the INGLO platform developed alongside Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform. It’s essentially an electric skateboard platform, with four wheels sitting in the corners and the floor acting as the battery’s location. Many automakers are slowly adopting this type of platform for their EVs. This is because it helps maximize cabin space through proper battery placement. In addition, the platform can be changed to manufacture products of different sizes.
