Mahindra & Mahindra has announced that the automaker will open a new electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Pune, Maharashtra.Automakers will invest in ¥10,000 crore for new EV facilities and the investment has been approved under the Maharashtra Government’s Electric Vehicle Industry Promotion Programme.
Commenting on the announcement, Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, Automotive and Farm Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, “We are delighted to have the government’s approval. Thanks to Maharashtra for setting up our EV manufacturing plant in Pune and investing in The state that has been our ‘home’ for over 70 years. We are very grateful to the government. Maharashtra for its continued support. The government’s focus on ‘ease of doing business’ and progressive policies, coupled with Mahindra’s investment, Harashtra becomes a catalyst for EV hub in India, attracting more Indian and FDI.”

Mahindra plans to launch at least five electric SUVs under BE and XUV sub-brands from 2024
The automaker launched its new electric vehicle “BE” brand on August 15 this year in Oxfordshire, England. The new BE car marks a new chapter in Mahindra’s EV program and will be based on the newly developed INGLO EV platform. The new EV architecture will spawn a range of future electric SUVs under the BE brand, and will also lead to a new electric SUV under the “XUV” brand.
