Matter Aera electric motorcycle is now available for pre-order


Ahmedabad-based startup Matter has announced that pre-orders for its electric scooter, the Aera, will open on May 17. The electric car maker said the Aera e-bike will be sold in 25 locations in India. Electric bikes can be booked online through Matter’s official website or e-commerce platforms such as Flipkart. Matter will open pre-orders for the Aera 5000 and Aera 5000+ models. It also announced early-bird prices for pre-orders.

The electric car maker will offer the Aera electric motorcycle in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Other cities where Matter Aera can be booked include Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Mysore, Coimbatore, Madurai, Thane, Raigadh, Pune, Nagpur, Nasi Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Jaipur, Indore, Patna, Lucknow, Kanpur, Guwahati, Kamstrup and Bhuba Neswar.

Released last year, the Matter Aera will be the first electric motorcycle to be launched. It will be available in four trims – 4000, 5000, 5000+ and 6000+. The Aera 6000+ promises around 150 kilometers on a single charge, while the rest of the models promise 125 kilometers on a single charge. Matter will first start selling the 5000 series, priced from ¥5000 to 144,000 and then up to ¥5000+ is 154,000. All prices are ex-showroom prices. Additional decorations will be available later. Deliveries should begin later this year.

The electric carmaker says its electric motorcycle is the first to offer a 4-speed Hyper-shift gear capable of going from zero to 60 km/h in 6 seconds. The electric car has a liquid-cooled battery and powertrain and is claimed to cost as little as 25 paise per kilometer. The EV can be charged using a 5 amp plug. It also has navigation, music and calling functions, a 7-inch touchscreen, and more.
