MG Motor will launch the Comet EV, its second electric vehicle after the ZS EV, in India later this month. Here’s a first look inside the Comet EV.

Despite its small size, MG Motor has been able to fit four seats inside the Comet EV. The cabin boasts a large dual digital touchscreen display that serves as both an infotainment screen and a driver display. There are physical buttons on the center console for various controls including the air conditioning. The steering wheel is a two-spoke unit with mounted controls. MG Motor has previously said that the design of the steering wheel was inspired by iPods of yore. The center console doesn’t offer any armrests for the driver.

At the rear, the MG Comet EV is equipped with folding seats that can be split to open up more luggage space. Rear passengers don’t have any individual charging ports or dedicated AC vents in the back. All four seats have three-point seat belts.

The Comet EV’s design features a boxy shape with an eye-catching design. It will feature split LED headlights on the face and an LED light bar below the windshield. The light bar theme continues at the rear as well, which also gets the Comet EV badge. The charging port is located on the front of the EV. It sits on a set of miniature steel wheels.

MG Motor showcased the Comet EV in four colors, along with various other options with graphics.

The MG Comet EV is expected to feature a battery pack that can power the car for around 200 kilometers without recharging. Expected output is around 40 hp and over 100 Nm.

Expect Comet EV prices to be around ¥1 million (ex-showroom), as MG Motor hinted earlier. In this price range, the Comet EV will be the main rival for the most affordable EV in India along with the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen E:C3.
