MG Motor India has joined hands with professional video gamers to design and develop a special edition iteration of its upcoming MG Comet EV.

The MG Comet EV is set to debut in India on April 19 as an urban electric runabout. The British automaker, which is owned by SAIC, claims the Comet EV will emerge as a tech-rich, feature-packed car. The automaker claims that MG’s partnership with Naman Mathur is part of a strategy to bring high-end, high-tech feature-rich vehicles to the Indian market. On Monday, MG Motor India’s chief commercial officer Gaurav Gupta hinted that the Comet EV will play a key role in the strategy of the brand, which will account for 25 percent of its sales this year from electric vehicles.

The MG Comet EV is a facelifted version of the Wuling EV, also known as the MG Air EV, and was highlighted at the G20 summit in Indonesia late last year. MG Motor India has already teased the interior of the standard model, but as the automaker has hinted, expect the game-influenced special edition model to come with new colors and a host of new tech features. In terms of overall exterior design, we can expect some unique color themes to be introduced to the limited-edition models.

Speaking of power, the MG Comet EV is expected to draw power from a 20 kWh battery pack. Like the Indian brand’s other EV, the MG ZS EV, it promises a range of about 250 kilometers on a single charge. The MG Comet EV is expected to draw power from a single rear axle-mounted electric motor with an output of around 50 horsepower.
