We’re sure you’ve thought about taking at least one year-long road trip and exploring the world. Doing it in a recreational vehicle (RV) is on many people’s bucket list. It is a home away from home after all. But at a quarter of the cost of an actual home, an RV isn’t exactly affordable. But YouTube channel Dangie Bros has managed to build his own camper on an extremely low budget, and it’s quite possibly the world’s smallest bike camper.
Dangie Bros, run by Chris and Jeff, document their thoughts on building an affordable trike camper on a tricycle base. The channel operator’s goal is to replicate a large motorhome at a fraction of the cost when covering a 160km road trip in two days.

The camper itself is mounted on the rear of the trike and is mostly made of plywood and aluminum siding. It comes with a working sink, gas fire, solar panels to power the electrical outlets and fans. There is also a huge door and several ventilation windows. This small-budget camper also comes with a pull-out bed, which requires a few pieces of plywood to put together each night. Dangie Bros says the entire camper weighs about 227kg.
A video on their YouTube channel documents their journey in the camper, showing what a DIY camper is capable of and the challenges that come with the job. Without any form of motor assistance, the brothers had to rely on pedal power to propel the camper forward. The uphill section means one person has to push the camper while the other pedals away.
While the camping bike only managed a quarter of its intended distance, the YouTuber is sure to get full marks for making a pretty wild attempt.
