Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has installed up to six DC electric vehicle fast charging stations to promote the use of electric vehicles and zero-emission ground transport. These charging stations are designed to provide greater convenience to the general public.
These charging stations are located at CSMIA Terminals 1 and 2, in conveniently placed slots such as the multi-storey car park of the former and the five-storey car park of the latter. Interestingly, privately owned EVs will only pay for the charging facility and that will be deducted from the parking fee. Airport officials further stated that safety is paramount and these charging points comply with all requirements, policies and protocols outlined by the relevant regulators. “As an environmentally and socially conscious organization, CSMIA operates in a sustainable manner. The opening of the electric vehicle charging station is a testament to CSMIA’s proactive approach to working together to create a greener environment through various projects,” said a CSMIA spokesperson. “These efficient and green practices adopted by CSMIA not only make it one of the most sustainable airports in the world to provide only the best for today’s passengers for a better and sustainable tomorrow.”
All of these charging stations are compatible with all popular electric vehicles in the country. Going forward, EV chargers with 60 kW and 240 KW capacities will be added to meet the charging needs of airside logistics.
