Tata Motors continues to dominate EV sales in India. India’s largest EV maker had sold 5,805 units of Nexon EV, Tiago EV and Tigor EV in May. Tata’s sales jumped 66% compared to the same month last year. This is largely due to the launch of the Tiago EV earlier this year. The popularity of the electric hatchback is evident in sales of 10,000 units within four months of its launch.

Tata Motors’ EV sales rose from 3,505 units a year earlier. However, sales were down compared to the previous month. In April 2023, Tata Motors sold 6,516 electric vehicles. Electric vehicles contributed about 8% to Tata Motors’ overall sales in May. Last month, Tata Motors sold 73,448 passenger vehicles.
The Tiago EV is the latest addition to Tata Motors’ electric vehicle portfolio in India. Launched last year, the Tiago EV is one of the most affordable EVs in the country, priced from ¥869 thousand (ex-showroom) and rising to ¥1.199 million (ex-showroom). The Tiago EV also had the fastest bookings at 20,000 as of December.
