OBD 2 compliant Yamaha Fascino 125 coming soon, details leaked

After updating its range of motorcycles to meet OBD 2 compliance, Yamaha Motor India will soon launch its refreshed range of scooters, and ahead of its launch, details of the 2023 Yamaha Fascino 125 have leaked online. According to the RTO document, the 125 cc scooter is now equipped with an on-board diagnostic (OBD 2) system.

This complies with future emission standards, with OBD 2 devices monitoring the vehicle’s emission levels in real time. Not just the Yamaha Fascino 125, the documentation also includes the Cygnus Ray ZR and the Cygnus Ray ZR Street Rally. Note that Yamaha dropped the Cynus name from its scooters in a previous update, and those models were labeled Ray ZR and Ray ZR Street Rally.

All three Yamaha scooters draw power from the same 125 single-cylinder fuel-injected engine. Aside from OBD 2 compliance, there are no other changes to the motor and continues to develop 8 bhp at 6,500 rpm.

Yamaha India recently refreshed its motorcycle portfolio with the launch of the 2023 YZF-R15, MT-15, FZ-S and FZ-X. Now, the company is expected to launch an updated version of its scooter soon. While the Indian arm of the Japanese manufacturer is yet to announce the launch details, the type approval certificate has revealed the specifications of the upcoming scooter. The current version has a peak torque of 10.3 Nm.

The document does not mention any feature upgrades, but Yamaha India could update its range of scooters for some added value. The models already come with LED headlamps, Bluetooth connectivity, multi-function key switch, 21 liters of under-seat storage, alloy wheels, combined brakes and more.

The Yamaha Fascino 125 is currently priced at ¥From 77,100, while the Ray ZR starts ¥From 82,230 for the Ray ZR Street Rally ¥From 91,030. All prices are ex-showroom Delhi. Prices are expected to increase slightly for the 2023 model year. We also expect Yamaha to introduce the OBD 2 compliant Aerox 155 as well as a line of 125 cc scooters. The launch could happen within days.
