Bengaluru-based EV startup Oben Electric has started deliveries of its flagship electric motorcycle, the Oben Rorr. The company has delivered 25 high-performance electric motorcycles to customers at an event at its manufacturing facility in Jigani, Bengaluru. First customers also received exclusive merchandise during the “First to Rorr” (F2R) campaign. The price of the bike is $150,000 (ex-showroom).
This high-performance electric motorcycle is capable of accelerating from 0 to 40 km/h in just three seconds. It has a top speed of 100km/h and is claimed to have a range of 187km per charge. It uses a 4.4kWh battery pack and an 8kWh IPMSM motor. It takes about two hours to juice up.
The EV startup is offering an industry-first three free services in the first year customers own a bike. The 50,000km/three-year warranty can be extended to five years or 75,000km (whichever comes first), along with a three-year motor warranty. Customers can also enjoy free Roadside Assistance (RSA) and access to more than 12,000 charging stations nationwide through charging partners.
The company started selling the Oben Rorr electric motorcycle at its first experience center in HSR, Bangalore, in May this year. The company claims that the unique selling points (USPs) of the high-performance bike include better performance than a 150cc petrol motorcycle, new-age design and smart features. Additionally, the company says minimal operating costs make it an easy ownership experience for customers.
Oben Electric claims a total of 21,000 reservations have been made for the flagship electric motorcycle. It is also aggressively expanding its manufacturing capabilities and plans to open showrooms and service centers in every city and state. The company also plans to double the size of its team in the coming months.
