Ola Electric to open 500 experience centers in India next month

Ola Electric will open 500 experience centers across India by March this year to get closer to consumers, founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said on Thursday.

The company currently has 200 experience centers across the country and also plans to bring electric bicycles to the market.

Ola’s Experience Centers help consumers discover and purchase their vehicles and get serviced.

“Now 80% of our customers are within 20km of an Ola Experience Center and by March we will open 500 centers as close to you (the customer) as possible,” he said in a virtual address announcing the new product.

Ola Electric has launched a lower version of its electric scooter model S1, priced at ¥99,999, while also announcing a full lineup of its S1 Air models with three different battery capacities, priced from ¥84,999.

Based on customer feedback, the company is launching a lower-end version of the S1 with a 2kWh battery, a range of 91 kilometers and a top speed of 90 kilometers per hour (kmph), Aggarwal said.it comes from ¥99,999.

This will be in addition to the existing S1 with a 3kWh battery, a range of 141km and a top speed of 95km/h, and the S1 Pro with a 4kWh battery, a range of 181km and a top speed of 116km/h. .

On the S1 Air range, he said the company initially announced the model would be powered by a 2.5KWh battery pack, but has now decided to offer 2kWh, 3kWh and 4kWh pack options.

The S1 Air with a 2kWh battery has a range of 85km and a top speed of 85km/h, while the 3kWh and 4kWh versions have ranges of 125km and 165km respectively.These prices are in ¥84,999, ¥99,999 and ¥1,09,999 respectively.

While the new S1 variant with the 2kWh option can be purchased immediately, all S1 Air variants can be pre-ordered from Thursday ¥999, deliveries will start in July.

To accommodate the three new models, deliveries of the S1 Air had to be delayed by three months, Aggarwal said.

Customers who booked the 2.5 kWh variant introduced last year will be upgraded to the 3 kWh option for free, he added.

Ola Electric also provided a sneak peek of its upcoming e-bike, but Aggarwal did not reveal details about the product.
