Ola Electric is rapidly expanding its network of experience centers or showrooms in an effort to go offline and provide customers with a physical buying experience. The Tamil Nadu-based electric two-wheeler maker has announced that it will add two such centers in Bengaluru, one of India’s largest markets, by the end of this month. The EV maker recently opened two more experience centers in Pune and Delhi, as well as several across the country.
Ola Electric had earlier announced plans to open about 100 showrooms in India by the end of this year. It is a major strategic shift for the electric car maker since its launch in India in August 2021. Until now, Ola Electric used to deliver its electric scooters directly to customers’ doorsteps. EV brands rely on buying their products online and do not provide the actual experience of buying a car while Indians are used to buying from all other brands.
The showrooms, dubbed “experience centers,” will feature electric scooters like the S1, S1 Pro and, most recently, the S1 Air. This will help its customers directly interact with Ola representatives before purchasing a product.
The electric two-wheeler maker’s co-founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal made the announcement, which is seen as a shift in the EV brand’s strategy. Highlight on Twitter how these showrooms will allow more people to experience the company’s battery-powered products. He once said, “Customers love the convenience of buying online and taking test rides—thousands a day and counting. The Experience Center will allow even more people to experience our products!”
Ola Electric is currently India’s number one electric two-wheeler maker based on October sales. Most recently, it became the fastest company in the electric two-wheeler segment to roll out 100,000 electric scooters. The 1,00,000th unit was rolled out of the company’s FutureFactory in Tamil Nadu.
