Ola rolls out MoveOS 3 update; super charging, active regeneration, party mode and more

Ola Electric has rolled out the MoveOS 3 update for its S1 range of electric scooters. This is the third software update for the range of electric scooters, bringing more than 50 new features, including improved performance and charging times. MoveOS 3 will be updated on more than 100,000 S1 electric scooters sold to customers via an over-the-air (OTA) update.

MoveOS 3 finally brings the e-scooter features that Ola Electric originally promised at its August 2021 launch event. These new features, which will only be available on the S1 and S1 Pro, include a super charging feature that allows the electric scooter to be charged to 50 kilometers in just 15 minutes. There’s also Active Regen that brings regenerative braking to improve range in stop-and-go traffic.

Users also get features like vacation mode, which allows the scooter to be parked for up to 200 days without recharging. At the same time, the new Hill Hold function ensures that the vehicle will not roll backward when starting on a slope.

Other upgrades include the option to have multiple profiles on the same scooter, a proximity lock and unlock that activates automatically once the owner’s smartphone comes within the necessary distance. The Ola S1 and S1 Pro also get Wi-Fi connectivity with the latest update.

Additionally, the Ola Electric range of scooters has gained a Moods feature that allows owners to customize the digital console with Bolt, Vintage and Eclipse aesthetics to choose from. There’s also a party mode that brings a synchronized scooter light show whenever the user plays a song.

Other upgrades include Bluetooth connectivity to display incoming call notifications on the digital display, while there is also the option to store digital documents such as driving licenses and Aadhar cards. Finally, there are new security lights on the S1 and S1 Pro. Apart from the Hill Hold feature, which is still in beta stage, Ola said the rest of the features will be rolled out to customers soon.
