Ather Energy on Thursday unveiled the long-awaited Ather 450S electric scooter, the startup’s new entry-level model.Selling for ¥129,999 (ex-showroom), the Athr 450S will directly challenge Ola Electric’s entry-level scooter, the S1 Air, which is coming soon. What’s interesting about the Ather 450S is that the manufacturer claims it’s capable of delivering similar performance and a superior ride to conventional 125 cc petrol scooters currently on the market.

The company said the Ather 450S electric scooter will be available for pre-order at Ather Experience Centers across India from July 2023 onwards. It also said the scooter would be priced in line with the revised FAME 2 scheme. Consumers can benefit more from their respective state electric vehicle policies. Powering the Ather 450S is a 3kWh battery pack that claims to provide a range of 115km on a single charge and enables the scooter to operate at a top speed of 90km/h, which is enough for commuting in and out of the city.
