Porsche electric boats are the ultimate sport machines for wet and backcountry fun

Porsche supercars have long thrilled car enthusiasts around the world, but why should the company limit itself to roads? No wonder the German brand has entered into a partnership with Austrian yacht builder Frauscher Shipyards to develop what it claims is one of the most powerful electric sports boats in the world.

The Porsche Electric Sports Boat will be a zero-emissions option best suited to lakes and inland waterways, while also being able to navigate rough seas.

Porsche and the Frauscher shipyard have jointly developed the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air electric sports boat, which will be powered by the electric drive technology of the Porsche Macan. Not only do the sketches confirm that this is a sport boat capable of generating plenty of metaphorical waves, but there is more than enough promise to impress in terms of appearance.

The Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air is based on the Frauscher 858 daycruiser already on the market, measuring 8.67 meters (8,670 mm) long and 2.49 meters (2,490 mm) wide. The Macan EV drivetrain will be further tuned to ensure the impressive acceleration and massive pulling power that Porsche claims will give the boat.

At the heart of the electric sports boat is a lithium-ion battery pack with a total capacity of 100 kWh. There will also be the absolute latest in synchronous motor technology. The boat will take advantage of available DC fast charging options, while also being compatible with AC charging options.

Don’t just expect pure performance, because the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air is expected to deliver the ultimate in luxury for its passengers (all nine at once). The rear of the boat will have a swim platform, several benches, sun shades, a refrigerator and a premium sound system.

Porsche has confirmed it will go on sale in 2024, with an initial offering of 25 First Edition models. Needless to say, don’t expect it to be a marine toy, as the Frauscher x Porsche 850 Fantom Air will command a hefty price tag. “We stand for state-of-the-art, high-performance and sustainable luxury – and we are redefining the concept,” said Lutz Meschke, Porsche AG Vice Chairman and member of the Executive Committee for Finance and IT. x The Porsche 850 Fantom Air is just like our sports cars, delivering performance and luxury. “
