RattanIndia Enterprises completes acquisition of e-bike maker Revolt Motors

RattanIndia Enterprises Limited has completed the acquisition of electric motorcycle manufacturer Revolt Motors, the company announced in a regulatory filing. Founded by Rahul Sharma, co-founder of Micromax mobiles, Revolt Motors is the largest e-bike manufacturer in the country. It has more than 30 dealers and a manufacturing plant in Manesar, Haryana.

RattanIndia Enterprises now owns 100% of Revolt Motors and says it aims to significantly expand the growth of the two-wheeler company in the coming years. The manufacturer is currently retailing the RV400 electric motorcycle, which is equipped with artificial intelligence technology and over-the-air updates. Revolt says its electric motorcycles have driven more than 200 million kilometers on Indian roads.

Commenting on the closing of the deal, Anjali Rattan, Commercial Chairman, RattanIndia Enterprises, said: “The country needs environmentally sustainable mobility solutions and Revolt is poised to be a leader in this transformation. We are very excited and well prepared, Making Revolt the largest electric motorcycle company in the United States.”

The Revolt RV400 promises a significantly lower cost of ownership than comparable gasoline-powered commuter motorcycles. It is equipped with a 3.24 kWh lithium-ion battery that provides a range of 150 km on a single charge and can reach a top speed of 85 km/h. The battery can be fully charged in four hours.

Launched in 2019, the RV400 has a first-mover advantage in the electric motorcycle segment. Electric motorcycles haven’t been fully updated since their inception. With the acquisition, RattanIndia said it aims to create an eco-friendly, sustainable ecosystem and help accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
