After making its debut at the EICMA motorcycle show earlier this month, Royal Enfield is now revealing the Super Meteor 650 at Rider Mania 2022, the brand’s annual motorcycle festival. The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is undoubtedly the star model of the year, and to make things special, potential customers can reserve the model exclusively at the event. That said, pre-orders are only available to Rider Mania attendees, not officially available to dealers or customers online. Launch is expected to take place in January 2023.

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is the third product of the 650 platform after the Interceptor and the Continental GT. Compared to the 650 Twins, the SM 650 is significantly heavier at 241kg, but also has more metal parts, premium finishes and even full LED lighting. This is by far the most tech-friendly Royal Enfield to come out of Chennai. Power comes from the same 648 cc parallel-twin engine delivering 47 bhp at 7,250 rpm and peak torque of 52 Nm at 5,650 rpm. The motor is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

Other features of the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 include alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, Tripper navigation system, USD forks and more. The model will be offered in two variants, standard and wagon, and is expected to come in about seven color options as well as a plethora of accessories available. Pricing for the Super Meteor 650 is still under wraps, but the new RE flagship will command a premium, and you can expect prices to be higher than ¥350,000 (ex-showroom).
That said, at this price point it will continue to be a very accessible middleweight wagon, competing with the likes of India’s Kawasaki Vulcan S and Benelli 502C. Globally, depending on the market, it will also feature the likes of the BSA Gold Star 650 and the Honda Rebel 500.
